submission guidelines

thank you for your interest in submitting to fever

we are a web-based zine that strives to promote new voices in experimental prose, poetry, and hybrid literature. this journal has no intention of becoming a print edition but writers that appear here may be considered for print publication by the associate mothership – acetylene press.

from an age long penchant and weakness for defining things by what they are not, here is what we are not interested in: the sappy, sentimental, academic, predictable, overtly political/religious or anything that smacks of the sisyphean or solipsist.

we feel there is a critical disconnect of pulse from tongue in much modern literature and hope to provide a platform and outlet for voices willing to challenge institutions of atrophied imagination and language. it is also our opinion that while pop culture lends unique elements to the place and image of contemporary writing, we wish to refrain from giving it yet another platform here.

all that said – we are looking for the unnaturally haunting, the eerie and dismantled, a syntax invigorated with thought and detail, landscapes of ontological psychedelia. surprise us. make us feel dirty, used, and neglected. take us to a steep precipice and throw us off. we lean toward the darker matter of life and this subjective thunder-dome called reality.
